Pol Roger | Brut Rosé 2008

Winston Churchill remarked, "My tastes are simple; I am easily satisfied with the best." Pol Roger champagne was his favorite house, so much so that they they produce a Prestige Cuvée in his honor. Pol Roger has many other styles, including the Pol Roger Rosé Vintage 2008, which is a gorgeous expression of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes.

Critically acclaimed by The Wine Spectator, The Wine Enthusiast and Robert Parker, the 2008 Rosé undergoes a full malolactic fermentation prior to final blending, which means that the ripe, red fruit aromas in the nose and strawberry and citrus flavors on the palate will finish with a creamy richness. Although unintentional by the winery, it even caveated in its release notes, "...if allowed to develop in the glass..." to perhaps warn those of us inclined to drink in gulps instead of sip in appreciation when confronted by deliciousness.
